Multi-faceted, multi-genre, multi-generational!

I’ve produced work for theaters, dance studios, and special events for the last twenty years. I started choreographing classes at 14, high school musicals at 16, NYC productions at 20, and have thrived as a creative leader ever since. I’m a natural-born storyteller with a gift for creating accessible work that reflects the socio-political climate and invites audiences to connect and reflect during their time with us. Teaching & Choreography Reel

Musicals, Productions, Special Performances

I strive to build fun, inclusive spaces where folks can explore, experiment, and expand under patient guidance. I choreograph themes and formations that foster chemistry within the cast, always working around the artistic magic that appears during the rehearsal process. It is my passion to incorporate physical subtleties and stillness to ensure the movement itself has a larger impact. I don't insert leaps and cartwheels when pedestrian movement would inspire more understanding. I gather a lot of inspiration from the libretto itself - I use words to create a "dictionary" of movements that serve as building blocks for staging and production numbers. My experience in education makes me a gifted communicator and collaborator while I'm building a production.

Guest Teaching, Youth/Teen Programs, Summer Experiences

I create unique programs and engaging masterclasses for theaters and educational programs all over the country. I often say, “give me 90 kids for 90 minutes and I’ll make the biggest impact”. I have a gift for connecting with all kinds of young people, being especially skilled at holding space for those with social and performance anxieties or are new to the arts and nervous about jumping in. I really thrive in environments where youth and teens are enrolled for a limited time, such as a summer program or a junior musical. In addition to technique, we focus on building chemistry and understanding the performing arts industry during our limited time together; the hard end date for these kinds of experiences helps everyone learn about time management and honoring the work. The variety of experiences I co-create with young artists are memorable and magical, inspiring curiosity and self-advocacy.. I would love to bring my innovative teaching to your students. “Amanda Trusty is truly an inspiring professional! Throughout production(s), she is consistently organized, communicative, and proactive on all elements that a show requires to function. The research, ideas, and energy she brings to every show is inspiring to every artist she encounters. She is a collaborative director who knows how to engage her audiences with creative perspectives, enticing movements, and vulnerable performances. Her communication with both the production team and cast members is exemplary for all arts leaders, as she allows a collaborative space to research, explore, practice, and present elements that all members would take pride in. Trusty also brings in a refreshed style of directing and choreographing to the stages, as she cultivates an open space for all abilities to explore the arts. She incorporates educational components into rehearsals; and establishes valuable, long-lasting, relationships with each member of the production. She makes every participant feel seen, heard, and appreciated. It has been an honor collaborating with her, in addition to working under her leadership.”
