  • Times have drastically changed for the theatre industry during the pandemic, and although we might not be carrying a physical “book” of songs into a rehearsal room anymore, we still need to keep our song selection fresh and exciting for ourselves. Let’s nerd out together and find you some cuts of music that light you up for your virtual audition submissions or for your upcoming cabaret performance. I love to get creative and cooky with a repertoire rebuild. Maybe we work part of duet that you love to sing but never thought about as a solo piece. Maybe we create a mashup of two pieces with similar messaging. I’m well-connected to wonderful creatives that are happy to work with us to transcribe, transpose, and create pieces from scratch. We’ll make sure you have a variety of repertoire that represents your gifts!

  • Let’s find a respite outside of the rehearsal room and zero in on a piece you’re wanting to connect with. When mounting a production, solo work can be challenging to make time for when there is music, choreography, and blocking to keep our attention. We won’t ever work against your director’s vision, but we can spend time helping you resonate with the story at hand, finding choices that excite you and support your character’s journey. Additionally, if you’re putting together a one-person show or cabaret-type performance, I’m thrilled to provide suggestions to ensure you feel your gifts are showcased and your audience feels included in this unique artistic experience.

  • Let’s choose material for your audition and find a musical cut that makes an impact. We’ll coach your audition like it’s a scene, making sure you feel you can connect with a “scene partner” even if imaginary during your solo performance. When we create connection in our work, it brings us home to ourselves and the story we’re here to tell. We’ll find a relatable storyline that you can lean on while fostering confidence in your ability to go with the flow during your audition. We’ll always discuss techniques to feel grounded during your entire presentation - from introduction to exit.

“I have learned so much about myself with Trusty. Being able to work with Trusty has shown me a new way of looking at myself, and that I am still shaping who I am. In reference to my voice, I believed that I was set to sing only one type or range of music. I have been able to pass that and understand that my voice is still being shaped and that even when I do find my vocal boundaries, I can still decide how I want to apply my voice. I’ve been shown that as long as I am willing to enter with an open mind and learning attitude, I am not truly behind anyone.”
